My 999 book list ~ a work in progress!

9 books in 9 categories for 2009.

I first saw this idea here in 2008, last summer, and never got around to putting my list together. This year I am more prepared. I am still missing quite a few but I think it is a good start anyway. The list is for the entire year, and mostly for me, besides the one category called "read aloud". I let the kids pick those books, straight from our shelves.

I added the initials of the book clubs next to the selection related to them (SM is for Sound Mind, Sound Mom Club; WRL for the Well-Read Ladies, NC for Next Chapter).

Here are my selections so far:

??? (I haven't decided what other category to pick)

  1. I loved doing the 888 challenge last year. I think you'll be amazed at how many more books you read because of the challenge.

I plan to read My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult.

I'm currently reading Animal Vegetable Miracle.

I have several of the same titles on my list... Fun that you're doing this too! :)

  2. Hey Alex...I love this idea too! What about a "Canadian" category...some great choices to choose from!

  3. I read The Catcher In The Rye for the first time a few years ago and I loved it. It made me laugh out loud (always a good thing) but the best thing is that Holden's story is just as relevant today as it was when it was first written, maybe more so.

I've read The Golden Compass too, and I am impressed that you will be reading it aloud - it is a pretty hefty book!

I've only read My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Piccoult. It was okay, but I didn't really like her writing so I probably won't read any more of her books. Sorry I can't be of more help there!

    Happy reading!

I ♥ comments! Thank you for stopping by.
