Wreck this journal ~ First Day..with a helper!

Today is the first day of the Next Chapter book club for Wreck this Journal by Keri Smith. This is going to be so interesting...seeing everyone's creative destruction! I hope to see lots of pictures from the other participants, so I will make sure to add many in my posts!

I had mentioned here that my son wanted to help me along with the destruction, but this morning I had a different helper.. my little one, Celeste (5) asked to help. We picked the Instructions page, coloured all the letters with crayons, then used watercolours pencils and water to create a background. Lots of fun!

Next we worked on the paper chain page. Celeste coloured the top part of the little strips with crayons, and I did the bottom. I ripped the page out and she cut the strips. We both constructed the chain. I can't say I see the destruction too much from today's pages, besides ripping the one page out of the journal, but it was a lot of fun anyway !

The destruction has begun!!

  11. How cute! That page scares me. I was trying to think of a way to make the chain but leave it connected/hanging out of the book. This is going to be so much fun.

  12. That's so great to have your children helping! The coloring of the chain links sure add to the beauty. I'll have to remember that when I get to my chain page. Enjoy!

  14. Oh how sweet.
My 8yo daughter went crazy last night, just dying to chew on the one page...she chewed on it a bit--went away--chewed on it some more.
She was disappointed it didn't have much of a taste!

  16. Well, it's a start! One page ripped out of the book. By the end of July it should be a real mess!

  17. I love it! This is definitely a book that kids will love equally as much as adults. In fact, I consider it an activity book for grown-ups that encourages the inner child to play!

  19. What fun! My daughters have joined the fun too. They took the book hostage and wouldn't give it back until I agreed to let them participate. :-)
