This is the end of the Great Outdoor Challenge!  We will continue to have fun outside, just like we did before, with a focus on getting outside every day no matter the weather, all year long!

Get Outdoors Challenge :: April 27 and 28 :: imagination outside

Andre uses any stick or piece of wood and pretends that he is battling some evil oponent with some fancy sword play.

I am not sure what Celeste is imagining here...maybe she's a rodeo girl? Her brother's yoyo was getting spinned around over her head while she was singing away!

Get Outdoors Challenge :: April 21

After we finished our weather observations for our nature study, I gave the compass to Andre and the 3 of them played a game where he shouted directions, like "go 5 paces North West, go 4 giant steps South".
Orion joined us outside too, with his rawhide bone.

Get Outdoors Challenge :: April 20

What is more fun than a big pile of dirt on an empty lot?

A big pile of dirt with a bunch of friends!

Get Outdoors Challenge :: April 13

I had to sneak a picture of my kids and crop most of the neighbourhood kids out of this one! There is a group of them that play together outside almost every day, just plain fun like tag or cops and robbers.

Get Outdoors Challenge :: April 11

oops! I completely forgot to take photos yesterday...We were all outside, mostly around our yard and driveway. We took care of our garden, pulling out more dead leaves and branches. We also clean the interior of our car. The kids also continued on with their Percy Jackson story.

Get Outdoors Challenge :: April 10

We went for a walk to a local conservation area in the afternoon. We were the only ones there! We saw a couple of Midland Painted Turtles and a few birds. I wasn't able to take any photos of the birds unfortunately.
In the photo above, look how the wind has bent the trees!

A few days ago, I finished reading aloud The Adventures of Robin Hood (by Roger Lancelyn Green).  Andre and Celeste were looking for sticks that would make a good bow during most of our walk.

Get Outdoors Challenge :: April 9

Still cold today, but the kids played outside around our yard with the neighbours!

There was roller skating and plans to make a movie. I heard that they were auditioning their friends for parts in their version of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

Outdoor fun :: april 8 :: chilly

Adrienne, Celeste, and Andre all went outside later this afternoon and played with the kids in the neighborhood. I had to crop this picture to cut them out. It was chilly today!

Outdoor fun :: april 7 :: rainy day

Outside in the rain this afternoon!
We all had so much fun, not something we usually do, but the rain was refreshing and reviving. I gave the kids some "exercices" as we took Orion for a walk around the neighbourhood, things like spin from this lightpost to that one, hop on one foot now, walk backwards, run, skip, etc... Great fun!

There are many participants in this Great Outdoor Challenge! 5 Orange Potatoes has posted a list here.
