Our next home...on Prince Edward Island!

We haven't found a home yet, but our current house in Ontario is sold. We will be moving out at the end of May. My husband is already living and working on PEI. We are all looking forward to this move and can't wait to be together again under the same roof.

We are also looking forward to exploring the East Coast of Canada and the Island especially. PEI has so much to offer, history, culture, nature, and so much more. I will try to share our discoveries as much as possible with you on this blog, until then I will be busy packing (but still sharing our favourite books every Monday and whatever else of interest along the way).

2012 Update!

Happy New Year!

Blogging always takes a back seat when life gets really busy, doesn't it? It certainly has for our family, but it is time for an update! I was going to wait until the end of the week but the regular wrap-up post would have been so long, that I decided to do an update post first.

Christmas was wonderful, shared with Nana and Papa at home. We enjoyed a relaxed Christmas day, filled with yummy food, laughter and time together. I managed to make a few Christmas presents and received a beautiful homemade apron from my oldest daughter! She sewed it all in secret and did amazing!

We took time off before Christmas and only a few days after. Right before Christmas, my husband was given an offer of transfer with his work. We had only a couple of days to decide (we said yes), then Christmas came, then we had to get the house ready for sale. It was a very busy time after Christmas for us! We will be relocating from South Western Ontario to Prince Edward Island and we are all looking forward to this new adventure! We will be moving to PEI as soon as we can (my husband will be there at the end of February).

Reading some travel books at the local bookstore!

We started back to our school routine again last week, with only a couple of days of work, but this week is full schedule. Extra curricular activities have resumed and we are focused again, with some interruptions for house showings of course...

A Wedding, a Move and a Challenge...

We spent this past weekend with our family, attending a going away party for my husband's sister that turned out to be a surprise marriage proposal and wedding all in one! It was an amazing day! I wish them both a safe move to the West Coast and a wonderful life together.
We started our second part of the move Tuesday. We had a safe four hour drive. I drove our car, with kids and guinea pigs and Daddy drove our rented U-Haul truck!
We have been very busy these last few days unpacking and catching up with family here.
An update on Our TV-free challenge week:
Being out of our home had its challenges, especially during the past weekend. We stayed at Daddy's Grandmother, who leaves the TV on for background noise...but since the weather was nice, I took the kids out for many walks! Since Tuesday, we had no TV plugged in until yesterday, and the kids played with their new neighborhood friends. We did plug in the Wii yesterday and they all played Guitar Hero together for about one hour or so. Princess did a lot better than I had thought, and she only watched 3 movies since we left our home last Thursday! As for me, I had been off the Internet since the April 15th and I was missing it, so when the Cable/Internet guy came and hooked everything up yesterday, I just had to re-connect!
I think we all did well during this challenge, but I am planning on participating next year again, when we won't be in the middle of a move!

Saying Goodbye for a Few Days

We are moving out of our current house this Friday, and I will be disconnecting the Internet later tonight. My blog will still be here. I will be back on April 28th from our new home, letting you know how our move went, and also how the TV-Turn Off Challenge turned out.
See you in a few days!

Boxes Everywhere!

This is Day #5 of packing! We have 17 days before our closing date. I am surrounded by boxes, they are slowly invading every room of our house. There are a few in the kitchen already and many in the basement.

Our schedule has changed a little bit and we are now on "basics-only" homeschool. Every morning, Fairy and Dragon do their Math, English, Handwriting, Spelling, and Reading Aloud Practice. Today we also did a bit of Science after lunch.

The afternoons are now for packing, and the kids either help or play, read, or watch a movie.

The Countdown Begins!

Our current home is now SOLD! The closing date is April 18....coming very fast! I might not have as much time on the computer over the next three weeks, but I will try to add updates when I can. My plan is to still "do school" in the morning with the kids, then have the rest of the day for packing.

What's Next?

We will be reading about Easter, Spring and Earth Day over the next couple of weeks. We also might have our house sold, with an offer that should be firmed by the end of this coming week. The closing date requested is April 18, so we might have to get ready very fast! It will be a crazy busy time for our family.

I am still planning on homeschooling through this time, as much as possible. I have been thinking that I can't be packing every minute of the day!

On the left side, you can see a list of the books we are reading for our Easter/Spring/Earth Day Studies.

Happy Spring !
