Sketch Tuesday ~ Native Fish or Reptile
This week's assignment was to sketch a fish or reptile native to our country.
We live in Canada, and so grabbed our field guides and set out to decide what to draw.
Andre loves sharks and asked me if Canada had sharks. I wasn't sure about this, so we looked it up and found out that we do! Even one of his favourites, the Thresher Shark. It can be found in the Atlantic, off the coast of Newfoundland.
Adrienne drew a skink. It can be found in Ontario.
Celeste told me she drew a little snake.
I quickly sketched a Midland Painted Turtle. We had seen these turtles on one of nature walks recently.

Sketch Tuesday ~ Trains
The theme this week for Sketch Tuesday was trains. We looked at pictures in books we had for inspiration, The Little Engine That Could in particular. I really liked everyone's train this week and all the details that they put in.

Sketch Tuesday ~ Picture Study and Reproduction
After a long break, we are very happy to be back participating in Sketch Tuesday! This week was a picture study and reproduction of a painting by John Singer Sargent called "Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose".

The original painting
We all spent a few minutes looking at the painting, and then went on to reproduce it. We all came up with the same idea to try to draw one of the lanterns.
